December 30, 1911: Scott’s men on the plateau

–from Edward Wilson’s sledging diary–

“We had a good day but fairly heavy going.  The other sledge fell back a very long way and came in in the evening three quarters of an hour later than we did.  We had a short rise and bad surface to begin with in the morning and again a rise and bad soft surface late in the afternoon.  Had a long talk with the other tent which is not at all satisfactory.”
