January 12, 1912: “We must try and get through. . .”

–from Bill Lashly’s sledging diary, published as “Under Scott’s Command”–

“12.1.12  Did a good day but came over some very rough surface and plenty of crevasses.  We are camped in a very rough spot tonight.  Looks very rough ahead, but we must try and getr through it as the depot can’t be more than a day’s march away.  Did about 17 miles.”
