April 5, 1912: “Good Friday” in Wild’s camp

–from Frank Wild’s diary, quoted in “Frank Wild” by Leif Mills–

“5 April.  Good Friday.  It has been far from a good Friday for us.  About 2 am a fresh breeze sprang up and increased rapidly to a strong gale.  About 10 am Hoadley and I went out to secure the tent.  The weather side was bulged in more than half the width of the tent and was held securely by a heavy weight of drift but the sides were flapping so badly that the snow was all gone from the skirt.  there was a very heavy drift and we could not see the other tent five yards away.”
