Shacklton’s ‘Endurance’ Expedition, March 19, 1915: Westward drift

–from Sir James Wordie’s diary–

“19 March. The Skipper got a noon position yesterday, 76º 53′ S., 36º 42′ W. showing that in a week though on the same latitude we have gone about 16 miles to the west. It was found worthwhile accordingly to take sounding: 606 fms; glacial mud.”
